FAQ

Can I get a mortgage in Australia if I live overseas?

Yes, it is possible! Australian expats can obtain a mortgage to purchase a new or existing investment property, refinance existing mortgages, access existing equity or construct a new property.

Do expats have to pay higher interest rates?

No, the good news is that living overseas doesn’t mean you’ll have to pay a higher interest rate. We work with numerous specialist lenders who regularly offer expat loans to Australians to find the most appropriate lenders for your situation with a great rate!

Am I able to borrow using foreign income?

Yes, you can, this is how it works, overseas income will be converted from foreign currency to AUD (using an FX conversion) and based on the lender a percentage of the AUD income will be used for borrowing purposes.

Will Australian Banks accept any currency?

Not all currencies are accepted but the most common ones that the banks will consider are :

United States Dollar (USD), Great Britain Pounds Sterling (GBP), Euro (EUR), Singapore Dollar (SGD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), Japanese Yen (JPY), Swiss Franc (CHF), New Zealand Dollar (NZD), Chinese Renminbi (CNY).

If your currency doesn’t fit into the ones above, don’t fear it may still be accepted, speak with an expat mortgage broker to discuss your situation in detail to see if we can help.

Can I borrow Up To 90% Value?

A home loan up to a 90% of the property value can be obtained for Australian expats with our help. That means Australian expats can purchase a property with only a 10% deposit.
